SideCar Installation Guide
Ensure you're within WiFi range before starting, as the device needs an internet connection to download software and complete registration. You can watch the full installation video here.
1. Remove the rearview mirror cover trim
To remove the rearview mirror trim, first take off the cover in front of the rearview mirror by gently prying it off. Once the cover is removed, push the trim piece forwards to disengage it from the mounting clips.
2. Route the power cable
Start by plugging the cable into the OBD-II port. Neatly tuck the cable along the edge of the dashboard trim, using a trim tool to gently lift edges and secure the cable underneath. Continue routing the cable up the A-pillar, concealing it within the trim, and proceed towards the headliner. Tuck the cable behind the headliner, guiding it towards the rearview mirror.
3. Plug in the connectors
First disconnect the existing plug from the ADAS unit. Next, connect the new connector to the ADAS unit's port. Finally, attach the ADAS unit's original plug to the available slot on the other cable. This setup maintains the ADAS functionality while adding the SideCar connection.
4. Plug in and mount SideCar
Plug in the harness connector to your SideCar. Then gently slide the mounting clips onto the existing mount points.
⚠️ Once you plug in SideCar it will start drawing power from your car's battery. It will continue drawing power until you connect it to WiFi and update the software. If you can't update the software in a timely manner please unplug the OBD-II connector.
5. Complete installation with the SideCar app
Begin by downloading the SideCar app from the App Store or the Play Store.
Select your New SideCar, then complete the training sequence and accept the Terms of Service.
Follow the in-app prompts to connect SideCar to your WiFi network. After establishing a connection and updating the software, the device will register itself and automatically initiate the calibration process.
You can monitor the calibration status through the Live Data feature of the app. Once calibration is finished, the SideCar device is ready for use. It's essential to prioritize your safety and adhere to traffic regulations when driving.
